New and Old Truck Pictures

This website presents a collection of rugged work truck photos, or "classy" truck pictures in the eye of the beholder. Most of the truck pictures date from the year 1990 to the present. There has been no attempt to present pictures of only the "best" or the "highest priced" trucks. They are just pictures of old and new trucks that make a statement of respect to the manufacturers and to the owners. Many of these truck pics, truck photos, and truck drawings can be found on other sites in a larger format.

Trucks and truck drivers play an important role in our society today. Where raw and finished products were once moved by rail transport, they are now moved by our trucking and airline industries. The trucking industry has become a major force in our economy accounting for millions gaining employment in the estimated 350,000 trucking firms found in the US alone. Thousands upon thousands of miles of closely connected highways have led to tight scheduling so that companies do not have to stock inventory as much as they did in past decades. Still, the threat of terrorism has presented major transport hurdles for trucking companies particularly at border crossings where slowdowns can and do occur. More often than not, delays at border crossings are caused by numerous government trucking regulations.

Special Mention: The 2018 Ford F-150 has been named the Motor Trend Truck of the Year. Ford's re-design of its 2017 offering seemed to stand out against the competitors. The popular magazine has been presenting its Truck of the Year award since 1979. For 2018, Ford offers a F-150 that was helped by the move by Ford to swith to aluminum bodies. Motor Trend notes that each body panel relates to the adjacent ones, even around corners, and every line serves a purpose. "Critically, the design as a whole advances the direction of the previous generation without losing or abandoning its signature." As you look at the truck photos on Classy Trucks, it is important to remember the men who work to keep these same trucks running on a daily basis. Nations around the world have sometimes felt the wrath of truck drivers being on strike for legitimate goals. The imposition of a trucker's strike in just one country can have a devastating effect even on the global economy. This is because truckers haul many products from nation to nation and to airports where planes will take loads and fly them across continents. This has led to a constant need for skilled truck drivers. The employment market is constantly looking for drivers to work with local carriers as well as long-distance carriers.
